The playground replicates the Roman tower as well as part of the city wall of the city of Cologne.
In order to make the city walls effective, their lower part including the archways was made of clinker brickwork. As a special attraction, children can use a hand-operated swivel pump to pump groundwater from a depth of 18 m up to the top of the square. As the area in the centre of Cologne is also a recreational space for adults, numerous benches were installed and the planting was laid out in a correspondingly peaceful manner.
