Leistikowstraße Memorial KGB

From 1945 to 1989/90, the building at Leistikowstraße 1 housed the central remand prison of the Soviet counter-intelligence service. There is hardly another prison that has been preserved with such oppressive authenticity as the former residential and commercial building of the Evangelical Church Aid Association, which was converted into a prison in the immediate vicinity of Cecilienhof Palace. The listed prison grounds were conserved by the Munich architects Wolfgang Brune from 2007 and extended to include a visitor center (BIZ). In the process, the outdoor facilities were carefully renovated in accordance with the principles of historical preservation. We supported the architects' office with the implementation planning and tendering and took over the construction supervision. The focus was on preserving the existing paved areas in the courtyard as well as the foundations and paving of the open-air cells.
