Sömmerda market Redesign of the market square

The central part of the square will be given a modern design with large-format concrete slabs. This contemporary interpretation is embedded in the classic ambience of the town of Sömmerda and the historic town ground. A generous water feature provides an invigorating accent. The existing tree population was taken into account in the planning and preserved as far as possible. The walls of the church hill will be renovated and incorporated.

The planning area also includes a residential street and a parking lot behind the town hall. The service road will be constructed in a similar way to Lange Strasse and Marktstrasse using sawn large granite paving stones. Small basalt stone paving will be used for the parking lot.

The furnishing elements were used uniformly in the city center and, unlike the floor coverings on the market, are given a more modern design language.
