The Vinzenz von Paul School is a special education and counseling center with a focus on emotional and social development.

Close to nature

The classrooms were replaced by a new building with a canteen which, together with the existing gymnasium and workrooms, forms an inner courtyard enclosed on three sides.

The school is located on the outskirts of the village, embedded in green meadows and farmland. This is also reflected in the design of the inner courtyard and the outdoor area. The existing old trees and the rural location led to a restrained and natural design.

Quiet courtyard

The schoolyard is framed by a surrounding path. The existing play equipment is bundled together in a wide fall protection strip so that the rest of the courtyard is available as an area for movement. The table tennis tables stand freely on a slab surface in the lawn. Mobile stools and logs invite creative use and can be used for outdoor lessons as well as during the break.

Moving terrain

The surrounding green spaces have been shaped as little as possible in order to preserve the trees and make the landscape environment tangible. A small footpath leads from the bus stop to the school and from the school to the church. The canteen terrace is connected via a few steps. A small grove with benches extends the terrace into the greenery. A pump track was created on a side area with the excavated material from the canteen.
