At the new building of the Schwarzwald-Baar Clinic, the entire outdoor space was planned from a single source, including traffic planning and foul and storm water drainage. Four ward blocks float above the two-storey base building, from which patients can look out onto the extensively and intensively greened roof areas.

The planning of the traffic facilities comprised the internal clinic roads, the service yard with patient access, the employee parking spaces (approx. 500 parking spaces) as well as the driveway at the main entrance with bus stop and taxi rank and the driveway of the emergency room.

The 13 inner courtyards with a total area of approx. 4 ha are placed under the common theme of Black Forest and Baar. Typical landscape elements (e.g. Neckar source, Brigach and Breg, sinkholes and dolines) are thematized in the courtyards and represented in landscape architecture.
