The information centre at the mouth of the Isar conveys the special features of the unique Bavarian floodplain landscape of the Isar delta at the mouth of the Danube between Deggendorf and Niederalteich. The converted and redesigned building of a former sawmill is to be upgraded by specifically developed selective measures in the didactic operation, but also in the public appeal.

The Isar meets the Danube between Deggendorf and Niederalteich in a branched estuary floodplain. In the midst of the most intensive agricultural landscape, it is a nature reserve of international importance. The district of Deggendorf operates an information center there, which is dreamily located in the floodplain forest and makes it possible to experience and play with the various types of vegetation of a floodplain landscape in the immediate vicinity.
The secluded location, however, also meant disadvantages in terms of visibility, presence and external impact.
This is why the Infohaus was made more visible and inviting by means of a new forecourt.
The entrance square is a place of arrival and a prelude to the information paths and guided tours. The recreation area and a roofing complement the already existing outdoor space of the house. An interactive flow model allows visitors to experiment with dynamics and bedload transport, or simply play with water and sand.
Great importance was attached to natural materials and design, as well as to usable and playable surfaces that relate to the river.
