University Campus Südstadt Rostock

In order to provide the new campus with a prominent entrance area, the first courtyard in the west will be designed as a plaza. Together with the forecourt of the library, this will form the entrance to the campus promenade. The central campus promenade will be extended between the institute buildings. This will create pocket-like recreational areas with colorful bench elements. They form the prelude to the inner courtyards. Students can enjoy fresh air between events on the campus promenade and in the inner courtyards, relax and enjoy the high quality of stay together with fellow students.



Here, academics can meet, communicate informally and exchange ideas about their research work. The existing tree population is to be preserved and supplemented. Trees with different flowering periods throughout the year will be planted in the courtyards. This will create a constantly changing picture of the courtyards as the seasons change.
