Meadowland and woodland Landscape therapeutic park in the forest kingdom of Brilon

The landscape-therapeutic park in Brilon works out the contrast between open, gentle meadow valley and wooded, steep forest slopes. The meadow valley with its beautiful tree population, fragrant flower meadows and hilly pastures presents itself generously open. Important view axes to the city, to the Provost's Church, to the limestone hills in the distance and up to the former ski jump were worked out.

Along a circular path - the landscape-therapeutic path - with the spa park as starting point and destination, 13 stations are lined up, which stage moods such as clarity, overview, openness, harmony, confusion, attentiveness, contemplation, transparency and sublimity. Recurring elements such as the comfortable benches, the red colour and the explanatory labelling integrate the stations into the overall context of the extensive landscape-therapeutic park.

Kurpark
The redesigned Kurpark with the newly integrated "Haus des Gastes" forms the attractive centre of the "Briloner Waldreich". A small square with benches offers a view over the ponds to the silhouette of the old town. On the "Seeterrasse", steps along the shore allow direct contact with the water. In the south, the spa park is characterized by the forest framing the valley and the wide meadows that replace the lawns.

Forest Park
The forest represents the introverted counterpoint to the open meadowland. Here you can discover amazing things, track down mysteries, enjoy tranquility, fathom sounds and scents, feel the change of light and shadow.

The "Landscape Window" at the park entrance is the prelude to the landscape therapy
path. The "grotto walkway" passes along existing caves and stone formations. On the way up, you will encounter the "Fairy Sound," a sound installation in the trees alluding to the Forest Fairy of Brilon. On a grassy knoll you discover the "Hochsitze". The former ski jump has been freed from the rampant greenery. It offers a breathtaking view into the distance as well as into the depth. A swing provides a little thrill on the slope.

The source of the Möhne was renaturalized as a layer spring - an atmospherically attractive place. On the eastern side of the slope, a "trail spider" causes confusion. High above the path a "fairy wreath", shimmering red in the diffuse light of the high forest, lights up. At the "Dichterlichtung" (poet's glade), a woodpile frames a ring-shaped retreat for reading and reading aloud. At the sparse edge of the forest, hammocks invite you to rest your weary legs.
