Retirement home in the vicinity of a Romanesque minster with former monastery grounds

The facility was built in the immediate vicinity of the Romanesque Schwarzach Minster and its new monastery garden as well as the still existing baroque buildings of the former Benedictine monastery of Schwarzach. As an outstanding cultural monument of the region, the minster forms the center of the community of Schwarzach and the ideal "spiritual neighborhood" of the retirement home. Thus it was obvious to place the building and outdoor facilities in the overall context and to construct a square building complex with an inner courtyard.
The open spaces fit in logically with this.
The proximity to the brook and the monastery garden allow for a circular route with various small and larger seating areas, first and foremost the café seating area to the south of the building on the brook.
Here, planters with filled flowering cherry and monochrome perennial background were placed. The creek itself is crossed by a bridge flanked with vibrantly planted flower pots. The entrance to the retirement home welcomes visitors and residents alike in a friendly manner with a bouquet of flowers, the planted flower boxes on the new Mühlbachsteg. A circular path with various seating areas leads around the building: The path around the house and the bench in front of the house are the fixed coordinates for a good home!
The beautiful location on the Mühlbach prompted us to formally design the tree beds as boats, which, like the bridge crossing, give interpretive possibilities for the flow of life and allow for serene reflections.
Filled flowering bird cherries and other shrubs familiar to the residents, such as lilac, and flowering perennials, fill the soul with joy at the renewing life. The inner courtyard was traditionally laid out as a cloister and has a fountain, a lime tree and beds of aromatic and tactile herbs, which can also be experienced by dementia patients, blind people and wheelchair users. Here the proximity to the old-venerable Schwarzacher minster stood godfather, which is attainable by foot in five minutes.
Möbliert became with simple, clear elements, high-quality in the detail; the historical surrounding field adapted, but with contemporary means. The inner courtyard conveys security and safety and can invite you to meditate with its fountain.
