Agricultural use, local recreation and nature conservation

Ring around the Protestant hospital "Königin Elisabeth Herzberge", an approximately 55-hectare cultural area has been created from former industrial, railway and fallow land. The district of Lichtenberg has developed the landscape park Herzberge into a showpiece with supraregional attention, which combines local recreation, agricultural use and nature conservation.

Showpiece with supraregional importance

The core of the landscape park is a meadow landscape overgrown with fruit trees, on which meanwhile the Agrarbörse Deutschland Ost e.V. lets sheep graze. This is a four-hectare area of a former factory site and an approximately five-hectare area of a former marshalling yard. The tracks were removed, the soil unsealed and replaced and a pasture area sown.

A comprehensive network of footpaths and cycle paths runs across the park and is connected to the Stadtmitte-Hellersdorf cycle path. At two places places invite to rest, the park entrances accentuated with column oaks offer further stay possibilities.
