In order to make the Sennestadtteich pond easier to experience and more present in the public space, the steep embankments were flattened to a mowable gradient. This measure ensures the long-term maintenance of the open space.



The dilapidated bank reinforcement was additionally reinforced in vulnerable areas with a bulbous fill and generally with the use of bioengineering plants.

At the tip of the peninsula, where the architecture of the Sennestadthaus juts out strikingly over the surface of the pond, an inviting boulder beach has been created in place of the washed-up bank. A seating wall to the side of the path provides both a connection and separation from the concrete paved walkway. The lakeside terraces at the Sennestadthaus are designed as public terraces for relaxation, as a viewing platform and as picnic terraces for leisure use. A 39 cm high retaining wall made of artificial stone creates a pleasant atmosphere by the water.
