Sculpture Garden Herford

The private sculpture garden in Herford comprises an extensive collection of contemporary and antique art objects on an area of approx. 0.2 ha.

Works of art in open spaces have the strongest effect when they are staged in their environment. As landscape architects, we can relate works of art to their surroundings. In doing so, we either place the art in conscious opposition to the landscape - or we stage it as a mutually dependent interplay. The modern sculpture garden in Herford is an example of the defined unity of artwork and open space. Here, the art objects are given their own space that suits them: their resonance surface, their passe-partout, a reflection or a pedestal that makes them stand out particularly from their surroundings.

Since antiquity, works of art have been part of garden culture. With the integratively designed sculpture garden, we draw on this tradition with contemporary means and objects.
