Archbishop's Vocational College Excellent school building

The Vocational College of the Archdiocese of Cologne was previously spread across the city with three locations. At the corner of Berrenrather- and Universitätsstraße, a new, modern school building has been built on the grounds of the Catholic University Community next to the Johannes XXIII Church, which unites the previous locations.

The outdoor space of the new vocational college, designed with high-quality materials, serves the users as a place to stay, communicate and relax, as well as a connection to the adjacent facilities. The main access to the school grounds is via a representatively designed entrance area on Berrenratherstraße. The surface materials were chosen to create a harmonious image with the surrounding buildings. Smaller and larger polygonal planting beds - planted with grasses, perennials and rock pears - are distributed over the grounds and provide sufficient greenery. The slightly lowered crypt courtyard with the existing water feature forms a point of attraction.

The new vocational college with its harmoniously designed outdoor space offers students and teachers a pleasant learning and working atmosphere that fulfils all wishes. In 2018, the vocational college received an award at the NRW school building prize.
