Traffic structures such as bypasses, with their junctions and interchanges, form "artificial landscapes" that are designed according to functional traffic engineering aspects. These indisputably represent an intervention in the natural balance, which must be compensated by law.
The required measures for this were determined in the course of the road planning by a LBP, including the costs for these measures.

The goal of our relatively late planning was the landscape design aspect of this compensation, in order to create a distinctive place at the western entrance to the city from this important transition area between the city and the landscape.

Point - line - area/space - the grammar of spatial design.

-The roundabout forms the core and climax of the situation. Further into the city, another highlight is articulated directly at the entrance to the city with an information square and fruit sales square as well as a beer garden. Here, with some distance, also the planned skater place was placed. The organization of these ranges was already co-ordinated with the road construction office Offenburg on feasibility, whereby there
was with the roundabout a clear preference in favor of a pure earth structure, as in the main variant intended, while the setting up of works of art from metal or the like for reasons of the accident protection was rejected. (still the other variants briefly explain!)
The info and sales place as well as the exposed old bridge with beer garden at the trade canal are feasible, while the skater place outside the city must be modified at the request of the road construction office still position-wise (other street side), but was otherwise accepted.

-The street line is accompanied and landscaped by rows of trees from Norway maple (B 28) and pear trees (Old Country Road). The gradient becomes the street space. The rows of trees close at the city entrance like a zipper to form a double-rowed avenue. Principle: Leading, guiding, scenic guideline.

In the area the motive of the cherry tree grove (Streuobstwiese) is taken up and place-typical as a symbol for Oberkirch/Ortenau is used. That says u.U. more than superficial symbols, because it naturally and not artificial works and is.

The distance of the street trees to the road results from the minimum distance of 4.50 m to the roadside plus the cycle track distance to altogether approx. 8 m to trunk center.
