Bambachstraße / Mariendorfer Weg thoroughfare with playground, football pitch and car park Berlin Neukölln

The aim of the measure was to re-regulate the previously informal path connection between the turning bay of Bambachstraße and Mariendorfer Weg and to create a proper and safe connection for pedestrians and cyclists.


New passage

The new path leads across the property of the "Silbersteinplatz" sports facility. It was adapted to the terrain while preserving the existing tree population and led as far as possible in a straight line between Bambachstraße and Mariendorfer Weg. The 5 m wide asphalt path is used by pedestrians and cyclists and was therefore provided with public lighting. Four disabled parking spaces were created at the side of the access road to the sports grounds. New sidewalk crossings were built on each of the two roads for maintenance vehicles and the development access to the sports facility. On Mariendorfer Weg, the existing crossing aid was implemented with reference to the new thoroughfare. A new fence was built to delineate the public path to the sports facility.


Playground

The play areas with different textures and offerings for the various age groups were created with respect for the existing trees. The toddler play area with play sand includes a toddler course, play tables, and a planting island. The play area for older children includes a climbing combination, swing net and basket swing on fall protection gravel. Between the sand textures is the woodland play area, and under the trees are wooden platforms and balancing opportunities on woodchips.


Ball field

The ball field was built in a location related to the sports facility. The location here was chosen with noise abatement in mind and in consideration of the tree population. It is equipped with a green synthetic surface, small field goals and a ball catching fence.


Parking space

The parking space was newly created directly at the turning ramp of the Bambachstraße for 16 cars. It is required by the users of the sports facility and has an enclosure with gate system. The paving is done with concrete paving and lawn joint slabs.
