Indira Ghandi Street Design of the outdoor facilities of a new residential building

The "Weißensee eG" housing cooperative is planning a new five-storey building on the site to complement the surrounding terraced buildings.



The architecture and open space are to form a unit both in terms of design and function. The building is surrounded by an extensive, species-rich green belt of perennials and ground cover, which is supplemented with solitary shrub plantings. The open space between the new building and the existing buildings forms a park-like green center. This is divided into various zones designed for different age groups.



The newly planned pathway leads from the existing buildings to the neighborhood square, where there is a sandy area, a sculpted lawn and a table tennis table. It is adjoined by a seating area made of concrete elements to compensate for the height offset.



The ground-floor tenant terraces on the first floor are allocated areas for private use and design. The gardens are shielded from the neighborhood square and the play area by privacy hedges.

The underground parking garage is enclosed from above and to the side by a pergola with a canopy. The waste enclosure is located next to this. The entrance area consists of a concrete paved path and lawn honeycombs in the area of the fire department access road.
