Neuzelle Abbey Garden Restoration of the historic facilities in line with the preservation order

The restored abbot's garden is a historic garden. The hornbeam arbors in the bosquet, the sections by the Dorche and the mirror basin with lawns form the flat or level parts of the garden. The terraces consist of water-bound paths, steep lawn slopes and steps. The restored Dorche moat with bridges and weirs is part of the Cistercian water system. The ditches were reinforced in a trapezoidal profile with fascines and grass embankments. The mirror basin was relined with a wooden surround made of oak heartwood. The edging consists of a system of pile-driven beams, clamped crossbeams and a cover made of oak beams. The bottom of the watercourse was reinforced with a layer of gravel on soft ground to ensure that it can be walked on for maintenance purposes. The outlet structure was also constructed from oak.
