The Backnang-Steinbach landfill (old) is being transferred to the aftercare phase. For this purpose, surface sealing and recultivation of the landfill will be carried out in 2 construction phases. Content of the landscape management implementation plan was the topsoil application as well as the greening of the landfill. In the area of the landfill site, various animal species protected under European law were recorded, such as the smooth snake, sand lizard, dormouse, large fire butterfly and evening primrose hawk moth. In order to provide sufficient habitat for these animal species, appropriate habitat areas were developed. These include wooded areas, hedgerow borders, dry, lean and moist meadow areas as well as stony structures. The recultivation measures of the first construction phase were completed in 2020.
