The development of settlements along the Lenne is shaped by the special topography of the Sauerland. The very present dialogue of mountain and valley is accentuated in Lennestadt by the mining history. The visual relationships from the plateau to the centre and to the treasures of the town are what make Lennestadt-Meggen so attractive. They are to be worked out.
Topography and "precious underworld" work together here at the place. The treasure hunt on the mountainside reveals artistic landscapes whose hard form is reminiscent of the fascinating crystal structures underground. At the top of the shaft plateau, the visitor is taken into the complex mining past, but at the same time confronted with a mysteriously esoteric future, symbolised by the pyramids visible from afar.
The valley space is characterised by the water of the winding course of the Lenne, but also by artificial bodies of water such as the former clarifiers of the mining past. In addition to the water experience, the search for traces in the valley brings to light architectural and cultural treasures which, on the one hand, bear witness to the

pre-industrial era and, on the other hand, recall the dynamic settlement development in the heyday of mining.

The Ring Promenade
The treasures of the site are integrated into a circular path system. The connections of the historical development become legible and the future development can be experienced. The Lenne will be integrated into the circular path system.
Encroachments are the railway station, the new car park at the church, the supra-local foot-cycle path of the Lenne rail and the car park on the plateau of the Sicilia shaft. The "guiding crystal" - a symbol for the treasures of mining and for innovative technologies - guides in the form of crystalline shaped, flush stainless steel buttons over the ring promenade to the Lenne and the mountain plateau.

The Lenne bank
The south bank of the Lenne is made accessible in parts. From the Edeka car park via Sachtlebenstraße, the visitor finally

arrives at the hillside garden. The north bank offers a meadow for camping, playing, observing and enjoying art. A wide walkway on Barbara Street becomes a Lenne promenade with trees and projections and recesses.

The Slope Garden
Freed of rampant vegetation, plateaus and ramps slide over one another. Steep slopes alternate with gently sloping plateaus, connected by stairs, ramps and slides - reinforcing the prevailing Piranesian impression. By selectively thinning out the trees, visual links from the shaft plateau and from the slope garden into the village are restored.

The Sicily Plateau
The plateau represents the crowning glory of the circular route. The mining museum beckons with all its treasures. The shaft axis pushes itself with a "balcony" to the edge of the slope garden and offers a magnificent view. Towards the pyramid area the shaft square is covered with tall trees.
