St. Paul's Square is located between Theresienwiese and the station district in a very heterogeneous and lively environment. The church is a striking focal point in the city skyline. Before the renovation and redesign, the unattractive square was mainly used for parking spaces. As part of the Munich City Council's so-called square offensive, a concept study prepared by us in 2013 examined the potential for upgrading the square and provided a basis for discussion with citizens.

St. Paul's Square now has areas on all sides with their own charisma and a high quality of appropriation: quiet lingering in the sun and under shady trees, playing, moving freely and spacious areas for special occasions such as parades.

Now the imposing listed St. Paul's Church is once again perceived as a central and identity-forming building in the immediate vicinity. A spacious square made of natural stone slabs has been laid out in front of the west portal. Five large string trees, benches and the repositioned fountain form a representative forecourt in front of the church.
