Based on the "Kappelbach green corridor" design concept, the Kappelbach was renaturalized in several construction phases. A generous stream bed was modeled for this purpose. A newly constructed bank wall ensures a hydraulically favorable transition from the Ulmenstrasse bridge structure to the naturally modeled embankments. Safety structures were reduced to a minimum in order to give the stream enough space for typical dynamic processes such as sedimentation and succession. Specially created flooding areas were planted with native tall shrubs, while shrubs and trees typical of the banks were planted on the embankments.

A footpath, cycle path and trail were created alongside the stream. Selected demolition materials were piled up in wire baskets to form blocks that structure the area lengthwise. Benches along the banks complete the design concept.
