The traffic-free "water axis" forms the green backbone and connecting element within the Jena-Winzerla district in the transition to the open landscape.

The leisure areas with play and sports facilities for children and young people in the area of the school / gymnasium and the kindergarten represented the first stage of realisation. They form an attractive public space which, in addition to generous, necessary path relationships, above all creates a traffic-free "substitute play space street". The formerly narrow public space was widened from 5 m to 25 m and spanned with a tree hall of ornamental apple trees; the height difference of approx. 8 m was overcome by means of a ramp and drag step system.

Water is symbolically treated as a continuous, design and name-giving element. The staging of the water takes place via a fountain, a water feature and an artistically designed watercourse made of concrete.
