2013 | Selection as exemplary project | State initiative "Mittendrin ist Leben. Green in cities and communities in Baden-Württemberg".

Precise figures transfer the design language of the building design into the design expression of the open space. Organic planting areas contrast with the framing geometric figures.

On the site in the west of Stuttgart, the new office building of Blocher Blocher Partners Architecture and Design also created a new high-quality outdoor space that further develops the formal language of the building in the open space and sensitively integrates into the surroundings. The connection between interior and exterior space is achieved by transferring and further developing the expressive formal language of the building. The formal language of the building is translated into sculptural figures that structure the open space and form the spatial framework of the garden as framing elements. The building and the outdoor space thus form a unity in terms of formal language and sculptural character. The austerity and clarity of the architecture and the precise figures of the open space are contrasted in the area of the flat roof by the organic plant image. In addition to the clear basic figures, space in the garden is created by linear vegetative elements such as rows of trees or generous perennial plantings. The materiality of the garden deliberately refers to technical materials such as asphalt, concrete and split surfaces, which are used in a two-dimensional manner. It is only through the use of the seamless surfacing surfaces that reduced and atmospherically high-quality spaces are created in interaction with the planting concept and the architecture. The very fine and precise modelling of the terrain significantly supports the figure of the garden, ties it to the existing heights of the surroundings and skilfully integrates the technically and functionally necessary fixtures. The large proportion of underbuilt area is optimally utilised by the intensive greening and creates a high-quality, multifunctional outdoor space for a large office building.
