The designer garden was awarded a prize in the 2004 North Rhine-Westphalia state competition "A Beautiful Piece of Nature", and in 2006 the garden received recognition in the North Rhine-Westphalian Landscape Architecture Prize.

In 2007, it was nominated for the international garden architecture prize
"best private plots" in Austria.

The open dialogue between client, architect and landscape architect led to an integrative planning result that turned house and garden into a design unit.
The task was to create a low-maintenance garden to match a functional "Bauhaus architecture" with clear units of measurement and transparency.

A ten-meter-long architectural water basin in front of the glass facade becomes a mirror and a connecting element between the house and the garden. The water surface is like the window of the garden. It brings in the light and with the reflection, the boundaries between inside and outside dissolve. Architecturally, too, the garden forms a visual axis through the house. The building stands visibly protected by a
overgrown reed structure wall (concrete) in the depth of the
1,200 sqm plot.

The building materials are oriented to the building design and are used in strict architecture and restrained in color. The vegetation stands in form and color seasonally in dynamic contrast to the open space architecture.
