The grounds of the University of Hildesheim, Marienburger Platz site, are divided into different subspaces. The new building creates two new subspaces. The existing parking lot remains to the southwest, and a plaza is created between the new and old buildings as a connecting link and recreation zone. It will have an open and communicative character. The area can also be used as a terrace for the café near the entrance. The square, which slopes with the terrain, is characterised by beige nuanced concrete paving slabs and elliptical arched lawn and plant islands, some of which are bordered with seating walls on the lower side. The plaza surface runs into the undercut of the building, captures the base of the building, and terminates at the parking lot side in front of the traffic lane. Thus, the new building "stands" on the plaza. The interior and exterior surfaces are color-coordinated. The surface and slope of the square visually run into the building.

In addition to the work around the new building, the rearrangement of the parking spaces and bicycle parking spaces are also part of the measure at other locations on the site. The overall impact on the existing green structure is minimal. Although woody plants will be cleared in the immediate construction area, many trees can be integrated into the planning in the open spaces. With the linear groves south of the parking lot, east of the university on Ortelsburger Straße and south on Braunsberger and Landsberger Straße, the open spaces of the university are in a biotope network with the surrounding area and the nearby Galgenberg.
