A new crowd-puller for Troisdorf: RKW has planned and realized a new shopping center on Wilhelm-Hamacher-Platz for the investor HBB. Galerie Troisdorf is directly connected to the pedestrian zone and creates a new shopping axis as a north-south passage between Kölner Straße and the Kaufland hypermarket. Together with GTL Landschaftsarchitekten, not only the shopping center but also

all of the outdoor facilities were redesigned. The single-storey, single-level arcade, which is slightly curved on the inside, offers retail, food and service outlets on both sides, a second level houses a clothing store and a drugstore, and a consumer electronics retailer is also directly connected to the first floor via an escalator.

The façade of the shopping center is characterized by a brickwork façade, which corresponds to the inner-city environment with its calm architectural language. A special structural feature:

The existing underground car park at the construction site - the town's former community centre - was retained and modernized despite the demolition of the existing buildings. This gives the gallery around 350 convenient parking spaces. In total, Galerie Troisdorf provides retail space of around 8,000 m².

Open spaces

As a basic urban structure, a new connecting axis in the form of a paved strip runs from the north through the shopping center to the south.

The pavement in the shopping center differs from the pavement surface outside, which stands out in the dark shade of the concrete paving material. The surfaces of Wilhelm-Hamacher-Platz are paved with concrete paving in a row bond.

The underground parking garage surface is laid using a bonded construction method. The tree planting is bordered at the height level of Wilhelm-Hamacher-Platz in a 45 cm high wooden deck with flat steel edging.

In the triangular wooden deck, which is rounded at the edges, a perennial bed (grass field) and an area for the offset existing fountain dome are provided in addition to the tree bed.
