Brauhausplatz Neuzelle Expert opinion on the design, restoration of the historic square in keeping with its listed status

Planning for the Neuzelle monastery grounds and the surrounding area began back in 1999. After extensive research into the history of the monastery garden, construction work began in 2002 and has continued in stages ever since. In addition to the monastery garden itself, the adjoining areas such as Stiftsplatz, Brauhausplatz and the courtyard of the monastery's boarding school are also being restored. In this way, the entire urban ensemble of the Neuzell town center will be included in the design. The Brauhausplatz is of great historical and representative importance for Neuzell and the monastery complex. The design (2002) led to a revitalization of the open space in its entirety as a square. The avenue was newly laid out with lime trees cut into shape. The paved road serves as a footpath and driveway, whereby the stationary traffic was completely removed.
