Audi Academy, Congress Center Ingolstadt

Towards Ingolstadt's old town, urban building blocks are being placed within defined building plots on the former foundry site, which take up and continue the overarching principles of the historical development. The uses are museums, university extension buildings and a congress hotel.

The first construction phase of the extension, the Audi Academy with outdoor facilities, was completed in 2015. The complex includes an office and seminar building.

The hotel and conference buildings are new urban building blocks behind the historic 'Neues Schloss' and 'Kavalier Dallwigk' buildings, which dominate the city skyline towards the Danube. A generous flight of steps leads from the congress square to the higher Danube terrace with a view of the river.

The entire area is underbuilt with a large underground garage. The open space of the entire foundry site can be used by the public.



The eventful history of the site, from the medieval and baroque fortress to the 19th century state fortress and subsequent industrial use, is an important theme of the park and square design. Remnants of walls and foundations from the various eras are integrated into the open space design in a coordinated manner.

Topographical interventions, visual axes and inlays make the former fortress layout tangible in the context of today's uses.
