A lively center of community life through reorganization of the traditional location, reduction of traffic, creation of areas with their own characteristics for different uses, new construction of a café.
Rather loosely framed by a heterogeneous development, the square was bordered by roads on all sides before the conversion and covered with large trees in the middle. Following an expert opinion, some of the trees had to be removed as they were no longer stable.
This 'green' character of the Schlossplatz was to be preserved and the square was to be transformed into an urban center.
Based on the reorganization and reduction of traffic and parking spaces on and around the square, it is now divided into two areas, each with its own characteristics:
In the eastern part, an area with solid paving and a new café, in the western part a grove of trees on a grass carpet, derived from the existing situation. The café is a building with a moderate floor plan and height, which is intended to further enliven the square with its terrace for outdoor dining. A smaller, second terrace with water fountains next to it invites people to play. The usable square space has also been redefined and enlarged by a ramp structure adapted to the topography. A wall now separates the driveway from the square and connects them via steps. New standard trees have been planted in the western part of the square to replace the trees that were felled and the lawn under the trees has been redesigned with a polygonal edge made of sandstone slabs.
