Rot an der Rot - Abtsgarten, Lindenplatz and Verenastraße

Civic Park

Along the monastery wall, a path leads into the former orchard of the monastery complex. This green area is accessed by a circular path. Bands of blossoms and trees run through the garden and give it a clear formal order. Visual references to the landscape and the monastery complex open up. The senior citizens' centre is subordinated by the single-storey construction and at the same time occupies a central place.

Abbot Garden

The beautifully situated abbey garden is reinterpreted with modern elements. The most important element is the terrace garden from the senior center down to the monastery courtyard. The broadly laid out garden creates a formal connection to the monastery courtyard. The terrace garden itself is designed with austere green elements, a water area and with generous lounge areas.

Lindenplatz

The central design idea of the planning at Lindenplatz was the flowing transition to the forecourt of the senior citizens' centre. This is achieved through the use of similar pavements and laying patterns of the public and semi-public spaces. The opening of the old convent wall now allows the
areas to connect directly. By moving the stationary traffic under the lime tree towards the building, the central, defining tree was freed up. This opened up a spacious open space with a high quality of stay.

Verena Street

The introduction of the generous new design at Lindenplatz and Abtsgarten should take place well in advance. The Verenastraße approaching from the west combines the previous materiality design idea with traffic calming measures. Thereby especially the Lindenplatz gains more quality. Through flower bands and the use of the same pavements, the approach to the centre is carried out in a very elegant way.
