The Crailsheim Basin is surrounded by wooded ridges and structured agricultural landscapes. The Jagst valley characterises the area as a landscape guideline. For the 26,000 ha administrative community, the update of the landscape plan was developed from 2009 to 2010.
As a strategic planning instrument, the landscape plan offers the opportunity of a forward-looking guidance of the landscape development of this region for a time horizon of 10-15 years.

For each of the landscape areas in the planning area, a mission statement with guiding objectives as well as a spatial biotope network concept have been drawn up. These objectives are concretized in a concept of measures for the development of the landscape. By means of GIS-supported planning for the processing of complex data structures (GIS Geographic Information Systems), the effective answering of spatial questions by the landscape plan will be made possible in the future.
