In 2009, the Balthasar Youth Hospice opened in Olpe as the first hospice for adolescents and young adults in Germany.
The garden design for such a home was a challenge that was worked on in close cooperation with the management and staff of the facility.
In addition to barrier-free access zones close to the house and homely lounge areas, a mourning garden was also created on the sloping site: a hedge spiral symbolizes hopelessness and perspectives in equal measure, providing space for individual needs for retreat and personal signs of farewell.
