The station forecourt in Bernau is being fundamentally redesigned on the basis of the 2006 competition design. Essential components of the measure are the basic extension of the square and traffic areas, the construction of a station building and the lighting. The complexity of the requirements for the station square requires a clear and concise structure of the individual areas to facilitate orientation and avoid conflicts between road users.
The aim of the design is to separate motorised traffic from other road users in order to create an efficient and expandable hub for the environmental network of rail, bus, taxi/car, cyclists and pedestrians with short, convenient route connections.
