With the schoolyard of the Gymnasium / Förderzentrum, an open schoolyard has been realized in Jena-Loneda, which counteracts the deficit of open spaces in the entire residential area. A community place was created, which is available as a festival place with a seating arena and stage for the annual cultural festivities in the district, which offers the possibility of outdoor lessons and which creates another public playground in connection with the children's facilities.

During the redesign of the schoolyard, a variety of age-specific offers for sports, leisure and recreation were planned for the entire school grounds, which are adapted to the different user groups. Special emphasis was placed on a variety of sensory perception opportunities, which have a significant influence on the development of the child into an adolescent and also contribute to the development of disabled children in particular.
