				The entrance square with fragrant lavender, columnar oaks and light-coloured paving welcomes visitors in a friendly manner. 
A colourful scented garden at the café terrace and colourful parasols right next to the main entrance invite patients, relatives and passers-by to linger. The entrance area of the Johanniter Hospital in Gronau is more reminiscent of a small town square in a pedestrian zone than a conventional hospital driveway. 
Despite this, it fulfils this function and simultaneously serves as a fire brigade bypass, meeting point as well as a place for communication and representation. 
The threshold to approach and enter the hospital is thus deliberately lowered.
