Christian-Albrechts University Kiel Institute and Seminar Building

Next to the faculty block at the intersection of Leibnizstraße and Olshausenstraße, an institute building and a seminar building are being constructed for Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) under the management of Gebäudemanagement Schleswig-Holstein AöR (GMSH). The institute building will house, among other things, the graduate school that was founded at the CAU as part of the Excellence Initiative. The seminar building will provide rooms that are urgently needed due to the changeover to Bachelor's and Master's degree courses.

The two buildings form an urban ensemble that forms a common inner and entrance courtyard and enables outdoor synergy effects. The planning of the outdoor facilities is based on the natural flow of paths between the parking lot, bus stop and campus grounds.

The central area is the inner courtyard with generous organic seating elements and a flowing pathway. The existing path axis in the direction of the central library is taken up and continued along the new buildings in the direction of Olshausenstrasse.

In the course of the construction work, a total of 250 parking spaces have also been built.
