Sports and school open spaces close to nature

In a two-year construction period, the existing sports and school open spaces of the Mühlenbeck Comprehensive School were expanded. As a result, the open space and building are closely intertwined via a playful approach to the terrain heights. An extensive green roof contributes to the coherent overall design.

Open classroom and large movement areas

The planning takes into account differentiated use offers: In addition to the learning courtyard with open classroom accessed via ramps and staircases, recreation areas were created under blossom trees in the terrace courtyard, extensive movement areas around the library circular building and wide meadow areas in the transition to the adjacent open landscape.
The break and courtyard areas close to the school are integrated into the topography and the landscape via terracing. A curved circular running track encloses small playing fields at different levels, a short-distance running track and a beach facility. As part of the rainwater management, a network of retention and infiltration troughs was integrated into the open spaces.
