Urban development framework plan nature in Tirschenreuth 2013 A city on the water

In 2007, the city of Tirschenreuth was awarded the contract for the 'Nature in the City' 2013. NRT was commissioned, together with the architectural firm apg90, to undertake the preparatory work for the competition, the first step of which was an urban planning study. The lead project of the planned garden show is the partial restoration of the historic city pond and thus the integration of the stone Fischhofbrücke into a water surface: a reminiscence of the former 'city on the water'.

The pond design attempts to create a water surface that comes as close as possible to the historical situation, 'city in water', which above all restores the drained Fischhofbrücke to its original function. The pond area is composed of a more natural part, mainly located northeast of the Fischhofbrücke, and a more formally designed part, located southwest of the bridge. For the horticultural show 'Nature in Tirschenreuth 2013' a new bridge structure was developed, which connects the old town over the former brewery area with the Fischhof area.
