With the new construction of the town hall in Leingarten in 2011 by the Kassel-based architecture firm Pape Pape, a new focal point for the community of Leingarten was created. The compact and clearly structured building is preceded by a new square.

The new town hall square is designed as a generous open space that surrounds the building
and blends thoughtfully into the surroundings.
The square will be covered with large-format concrete slabs in three slab sizes that harmoniously match the light-colored limestone facade and form an ensemble together with the renovated church wall. The renovated church wall with sandstone facing forms the western end of the square. In the south, the church wall is supplemented and extended by a new concrete wall. The difference in height of approx. 3.30m will be absorbed and the pedestrian connection from the south to the north will be strengthened with a generous set of steps. Four newly planted `Prunus serrulata Shirofugen` form an additional design element with their habitus and their flower splendour.

The eastern side of the square is bordered by a row of trees of `Liriodendron tulipifera` and seating objects. Lively bubbling ground jets complete the picture and give the square additional quality of stay. The peripheral areas were redesigned with small granite paving and the functional areas were rearranged. Both in the north on the main street and in the south on the back of the city hall, the parking spaces were renewed.

The result is a clearly defined space that offers space for the weekly market and festivals of all kinds and in combination with the water feature, a new high-quality place to stay for the community of Leingarten.
The square as a central meeting place underlines the liveliness of the village center.
