Town centre design Sögel Upper market place

The Upper Market Square - until now mainly used as a parking space - was freed from its unstructured, small-scale form and redesigned as a spacious square. Fountain fields, benches and playground equipment in conjunction with the existing outdoor catering increase the quality of stay.
The number of parking spaces could be increased by the creation of a new row of parking spaces in front of the commercial buildings.
Large format rows of slabs structure the square area and partly accommodate the equipment and furniture.
The formerly existing height difference of up to 1.00 meters required various steps in the area and in front of the houses. Today, a level square situation has been created and all buildings can be reached barrier-free.
The weekly market, among other things, takes place on the square; by simply dismantling the playground equipment and benches in the area, the market square is also used to hold major events, such as the annual fair or concert events.
