The ecological improvement of the Isar and its floodplains in the Lower Isar Valley will secure and optimise the various protected assets of the Natura 2000 network as building blocks in the European biotope network in the long term. Within the project period, 55 individual measures in seven sub-areas will serve this purpose, e.g. extensive renaturation and structural improvement measures as well as increased public relations work with regard to Natura 2000. At the same time, the preservation and optimisation of the outstanding habitats with their characteristic species spectrum can be promoted in the region.
