The new church square is located in Templin's historic old town on Mühlenstraße and is the central station of the archaeological city walk, where visitors have been able to view a selection of sites since 2017.
On the one hand, the square shows in abstracted form the building development before the town fire in 1735, with three asymmetrical formal planting areas with cut yew trees and two natural stone walls made of basalt tracing the building edges of the former houses. In addition, the cobblestone street that surprisingly came to light during construction was uncovered and incorporated into the design concept. The entire lawn was lowered to the level of the old mill road and the transition to the fountain square was formulated with a set of seating steps. Four lines of basalt cobblestones now refer to the course of the former street. New plantings with roses, grasses, and whorled linden trees and the large benches round off the ensemble.
The project was intensively coordinated with the Lower Monument Authority and accompanied archaeologically.
