The narrow path relationships and small-scale structures of the existing buildings were dissolved in order to create a large-scale connection between the church and the existing and new buildings.
The church square is located in an important urban location. The church was exposed by removing the dense tree population and the square was made inviting by a clear design language. Clinker bricks from the old pavement were integrated into the new design as banding. They accommodate benches and light columns and thus strengthen the design-defining axis. The connection between old and new succeeds.
