Area: approx. 2000 sqm
Construction costs: approx. 300.000 €
Builder: City of Enger
Design revision: winter 2006
Execution: 2009 / 2010

- Participatory design work with the regulars' table Barmeierplatz in Enger
- Design as an urban meeting place, as a festival and neighborhood square
- Creation of promotional open space qualities for outdoor gastronomy
- Attractive entrance areas for house residents

The design idea of the Queen Mathilde Square is based on the visualization of the historical city references and cultural customs. In reference to the annual cherry blossom festival, clouds of blossoms made of ornamental cherries give the cultural event a tangible connection. The Cherry Gate and a 'Sweet Row' form the new western and southeastern edges of the square. These blossom trees skilfully hide unwanted visual references.
