Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a mangrove nature reserve in northwest Singapore. In 2002, it was the first wetland reserve in Singapore and its global importance has been publicised as a stopping point for migratory birds. It received international listing in the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network. In 2003, it was also listed as an ASEAN Heritage Park.
The master plan concept takes into account sustainable design while conserving nature. The nature reserve will be expanded and at its core, with proper care and management, recreational activities around Kranji Nature Park will be developed. In addition, emphasis will be placed on the possible future of nature connectivity around Sungei Buloh area.
The master plan aims to offer Sungei Buloh a position in international environmental protection as well as anchor the role of a lovable home and distinctiveb global city in Singapore. Through the central transformation into a distinctive wetland, the conservation and educational core for sustainability of the reserve's rich biodiversity has been achieved.
