Due to the given height situation, a stepped free space with two levels is created. The upper level, with a height difference of up to 56 cm and projecting large-format slabs, slides over the lower level. This results in a clear concept of use: the upper, gastronomic level is used for outdoor catering, the shops of the Buigencenter use it as a forecourt and exhibition area, a small stage is created for events, the difference in height serves as a seating and playing area. The lower area is market place, forecourt to the town hall and playground in front of the youth centre. Skilfully arranged twists create flowing, barrier-free connections between the two levels, no "handicapped ramps", but quite natural connections, as slightly inclined levels or sometimes as steps. Thus the entire square is perceived as one space.
