The Baumbach estate as a whole, with its farmyard, manor house and park, is a listed building. The adjoining landscape park was designed by the Kassel court garden director Wilhelm Hentze.
The task in renovating the entire ensemble was to develop a design concept for the courtyard space, the open spaces around the outbuildings and the baroque garden, which takes into account both the changed usage requirements from the point of view of monument preservation as well as the technical concerns of surface water management and future maintenance. For this purpose, materials typical of the location and those found on the estate were used for the construction of walls, stairs and surfaces.
In several construction phases, the individual areas of the estate were examined step by step through targeted interventions, historical elements were uncovered and new requirements were sensitively inserted in order to bring out the ensemble in its overall effect again.
