Ehrenfried-Walter-von-Tschirnhaus Grammar School, Dresden Conversion, renovation and extension

The main idea of the open space planning was to design the schoolyard with vegetative and structural elements as a self-contained campus, which at the same time should be linked to the surroundings.

The open space is divided into the historic entrance forecourt, the seating area by the refectory, the inner playground with shaded rest areas and the extensive sports areas. The central playground captivates with an interplay of sunny and shady areas. The latter have been designed as communicative green islands.
Special seating elements have been designed for this purpose. Generous meadow areas, a green classroom and individual play facilities round off the versatile campus concept.
