The formerly agriculturally used areas of the Cappelaue were secured by the city of Öhringen in order to convert them into an extensive landscape park. The historical Limes border wall is the focal point of the site. If you step through the reconstructed Limes gate, you get an impression of the size of the historical site. Here, where the Limes once separated Romans and Germanic tribes, flourishing landscapes have now emerged. The border between the Roman Empire and Germania, which runs from north to south, has been set off vegetatively by a hedge sculpture. The rest of the park follows the axial theme parallel to the Limes and is interrupted in the east-west direction by long swings.

With the renaturation of the course of the river in the connecting space between the Hofgarten and the Cappelaue, Öhringen is creating what is probably the most sustainable urban development. In addition to the relocation of the straightened Ohrn on a length of 300m, the city's pipeline network was completely renewed. A new 26m long bridge connects the districts in the north and south.
The river was flood-proofed by a lateral stone lining. Steering groynes, rushing and sturgeon stones increase the diversity of the watercourse enormously and provide habitats for species diversity in fauna and flora. But also for the citizens of Öhringen there are new opportunities for local recreation and stay at the water.
