The Seepark is part of a park trilogy on the settlement edge of Lahr's west on land formerly used for agriculture. While Bürgerpark and the allotment garden park are located in the direct vicinity of residential and school quarters, the large new Seepark can be reached beyond the main roads via a new foot and cycle path bridge. In the future, the bridge structure will be seen from afar as a striking landmark via its tall pylon.

The pylon bridge creates a connection into the lake park via an elegant arch. Here it meets the cycle path coming from the south from the Rhine plain and guarantees thereby an increased cross-linking of the city with the adjacent region.
The special quality of the new parks lies in the fact that these different green spaces have different characters. This leads on the one hand to a varied offer for the local recreation of the citizens of Lahr and on the other hand ecological retreat possibilities for flora and fauna arise. While new recreational opportunities are created in the Bürgerpark through play and sports facilities such as a climbing tower, football pitches and a traffic training area, wetland and butterfly meadows, as well as the new floodplain forest adjacent to an existing rookery habitat in the Seepark, strengthen ecological diversity. All sections of the park will receive a differentiated trail system.

THE LAKE PARK
From landscape space to landscape park

With more than 21 hectares, the lake park is the largest part of the park trilogy. The core of the landscape park is the redesigned lake. The 2.7 hectare water area can be used for swimming in the lake terrace area. The shores of the lake are designed in many ways. In the bathing area, one enters the water via a wide sandy beach zone, shore sides are planted with wide reed fringes and a wide wooden footbridge with railings crosses the lake. In addition to the lake itself, the expansive meadow areas and loose fringe of trees characterize the landscaped park.
In the landscaped part of the lake, a lakeside garden is laid out along the lakeside promenade.
The lake terrace with the house on the lake and the approx. 500m long lake promenade are also part of the lake park. On the promenade one is accompanied by a row of weeping willows (Salix alba 'Tristis'), which provide shade and are supplemented with seating elements. Floodplain groves and areas of grasses and meadows provide ecological diversity and a variety of uses.

ROUNDWALKS
In each of the three parts of the park there is a wide circular walk between the trees of the fringe and the open spaces. At select locations, the curb of the path transforms to allow for seating along and on the loop path. In addition to this seating option, there are also long bench elements.
